Friends

The Friends of Leeds Baroque exists primarily to support the Leeds Baroque Choir and Orchestra. You can enrol here.

Our support helps the choir and orchestra in their aim of providing an opportunity for local audiences to share in the musicians’ enthusiasm for baroque music by giving professional, non-professional and student players in our area experience of playing the baroque choral and orchestral repertory at a high level of performance practice and scholarship and with some of the country’s leading exponents of early music.

The Friends was founded in 2000, shortly after the formation of the Orchestra itself, and provides financial and practical support.

Financially, the Friends are one of the orchestra’s major sources of funding and give that vital boost to their income, ensuring they maintain and develop their acclaimed standards.

Practically, we help with the organisation and promotion of the concerts, behind the scenes and at front of house and with refreshments. We coordinate the provision of accommodation for orchestra members and guest soloists from outside Leeds over concert weekends and provide “box office” facilities for self-promoted concerts.

Benefits the Friends enjoy, besides the warm glow that comes from knowing we are supporting the orchestra, include:
